Let me begin by saying I've never had an audiobook before.Vows Box Set was an awesomely awesome introduction to the world of audiobooks.

'Til Death Do Us Part

Sam and Henry are two complex, well-developed characters that you can't help wanting to get to know in person. They are two driven, career-minded people, but everything in their lives takes a backseat to each other and their marriage. The only bone of contention between them is children. Sam wanted them. Henry did not.

Their lives are upended when the plane Henry was on crashed in the ocean, killing everyone but four, Henry, a child and two other men. Sam was devastated. After several years of grief counseling, he's ready to get on with his life, eventually falling in love again and planning to get remarried.

Henry, on the other hand, helps the other three survivors make it to a remote tropical island. My first thought was "Please... not a Gilligan's Island remake (ever wonder how Mary Ann made all those pies?)." I was very happy to be wrong. What followed was a very realistic tale of their long-term struggle for survival. Whatever their differences were, the three men made it work. Even little Buddy, as the child was called, pitched in where he could, while clinging to Henry as if Henry were his father who, along with his mother, perished in the crash.

From This Day Forward
This story picks up where 'Til Death Do Us Part leaves off. The chemistry between Sam and Henry ramps up as they begin to rebuild their relationship, sometimes hampered by the very curious little boy Aiden, AKA Buddy, whom Sam and Henry legally adopt with the blessings of Aiden's grandparents who are grateful to Henry for raising Aiden.

Ms. Albright does an excellent job expanding on the story, with in-your-face realism, especially with Henry, Aiden, Devin, and Garrett having become instant celebrities bringing both supporters and haters alike.

There's not a lot of character development, with the exception of Aiden, being as the characters were pretty much fleshed out in 'Til Death Do Us Part.

If I were to put a real-life spin on the story, it was hard for me to deal with the haters. I wanted to take them all and strand them in an island even more remote than the one the castaways found themselves on.

Okay, Then

This little short story expands on flashbacks in 'Till Death Do Us Part when Sam and Henry first meet and their first date. While not essential to the series, it's a great little addition.

To Love and To Cherish
In the aftermath of the survivor's rescue and Sam and Henry's renewed relationship, one person was left, alone and broken-hearted. Nash. I couldn't help but want to reach out and hold Nash in an attempt to comfort him. Just hold him. Nothing more.

A what-the-hell moment struck me over Nash's horrific accident and subsequent memory loss. I was gratified when Emmitt, a physician at the hospital where Nash worked as a nurse, took Nash in and helped him through his recovery.

Another what-the-hell moment hit me when Nash's missing memories came back full force. I almost held my breath to see how Nash was going to react.

I was happy to see Nash get his own story, being as he was once an integral part of Sam's life.

The entire Vows series is one intense emotional roller coaster ride after another. Just the prologue of 'Til Death Do Us Part kicked my emotions in high gear.

The series would make an incredible TV mini-series, or maybe even a feature-length film.

This is not the first of Ms. Albright's works I've read but it is by far the best and I hope to see more of Sam, Henry, Aiden, Nash, Emmitt and the rest of the gang.

I don't usually become emotionally vested in a story, but this series grabbed ahold of me and didn't let go until the very end of the series.

Readers. I wish you luck NOT getting drawn in. It's pretty much unavoidable.

I cannot recommend the Vows box set highly enough. 5 out of 5 stars.
