Author Bio

Jackie Keswick was born behind the Iron Curtain with itchy feet, a bent for rocks, and a recurring dream of stepping off a bus in the middle of nowhere to go home. She's worked in a hospital and as the only girl with 52 men on an oil rig, spent a winter in Moscow and a summer in Iceland and finally settled in the country of her dreams with her dream team: a husband, a cat, a tandem, and a laptop.

Jackie loves unexpected reunions and second chances, and men who write their own rules. She writes across genres, blogs about English history and food, has a thing for green eyes, and is a great believer in making up soundtracks for everything, including her characters and the cat.

And she still hasn't found the place where the bus stops.

For questions and comments, not restricted to green eyes, bus stops, or recipes for traditional English food, join her in Jackie’s Kitchen on Facebook or find her in all the usual places:

Legacy Series

Book #1 - Remember The Alamo - Amazon US | Amazon UK | Universal Link
Book #2 - The Principle - Amazon US | Amazon UK | Universal Link

Blurb

I’m Ian, and this is my story. Like the others, I have a legacy. I was raised with the best of everything, one of the riches kids I knew. That isn’t the legacy, however. That is to be a part of something I didn’t want, and never asked for it’s tearing me apart, but I can fight it. With some help, I can fight it.

Meeting Pat Castaldo, the hot, muscled FBI agent was the beginning of a life I thought was ending. I am terrified I’ll get him killed, and others, if I can’t stand up to my father and the other men that make up the terrible secret society. My family has been members for hundreds of years, and it was supposed to be passed to me. I don’t want it, but I took it, and I took it to end them once and for all.

In the middle of all this, I am falling in love. That was a surprise, and one that possibly terrifies me more than the Gilded Grail. This could hurt, and I could get this beautiful man killed, along with a lot of others if I fail. My money may be able to solve some of my troubles, but there is much more that it can’t.

I’ve never had to be brave or fight for anything. This is my fight, though, and I will win. I’ll win it for my friends, for humanity and, maybe most of all, I’ll win it for Pat.

***

Raised in wealth most could only dream of, Ian Andrews III didn’t know another way of life existed until he went to college and learned about the world. There he met friends and came down from his palace to try to be like everyone else, but he had too much money to achieve that.

When he was set to finish graduate school, his father took him on a trip to learn the destiny that had been chosen for him. He would become a member of the Gilded Grail, a secret society that had members whose families had been a part of it for hundreds of years.

He was a legacy, and there was no choice for him. He would become a member, or he’d die.

Learning about this secret society, hearing their ways and goals, then going through the initiation, he was terrified and ran off to hide away from them and everyone.

His best friend worried when he’d been gone for days, his phone left in his room, not a word from him. Calling in help, it came in the form of an FBI agent in town on business. He was doing a favor, checking up on the missing college student, and right away smelled trouble. When he saw Ian’s computer history and the name Gilded Grail, he knew he had to find Ian.

Once he did, he learned the secrets that no one outside the order knew. Together, they decided to try to stop them from a horrible goal they’d set, one that threatened every man, woman and child in the world.

Falling in love with one another was easy but keeping that attraction at bay to try to save everyone a horrible fate, Ian and Pat struggled. Pat called for more help, and Javier Duran came, an old lover of Pat’s, and one of the world best mercenaries.

Sparks fly and jealousies ignite. Saving the world and falling in love at the same time wasn’t easy on any man. It could tear them apart or make them more determined to have the other in their lives forever. That was considering if they could stop the Grail and there was a forever…

About Rain

I love writing, it's been my dream for many years, and in October of 2013, when my first book went live on Amazon, that dream came true.

Writing love stories that are centered on flawed but lovable characters is my passion. Finding love between people isn't easy, nor should it be. Even in a book, there have to be obstacles for the story to feel real.

I am a mother of three amazing people, and three adorable fur babies. I live in Colorado, but love many other places besides my home. One state in particular is New Mexico, the state where I was born has always held a place in my heart.

People and places make my stories what they are. Each character I've written is a part of me in some way. Each place I write is as well. Adventures come in many ways, and each of my stories has taken me on an adventure that I treasure.

Come with me on my adventures and fall in love with my characters, as I have. I promise you will love the ride.

Book review: Guarding His Heart by Beth Laycock

Buy Links: Amazon US | Amazon UK | Universal Link - Exclusive to Amazon and Available to Borrow with Kindle Unlimited

Length: 38,000 words

Blurb

He'd risk his life to find his brother. But he never expected to risk his heart as well.

Three months since his brother, Jake, went MIA, Lane Matthews is tired of waiting for answers. With a little help, he arranges a posting to Jeddah for his first overseas deployment—the perfect opportunity to find his brother.

Life in a foreign land isn't quite like he imagined and neither are his duties. But when he meets his housemate, Tristan, while it may be memorable, it's not one of Lane's finest moments.

Tristan threatens to throw him way off course, and falling for the hot straight soldier is definitely not in his plans. But as tensions rise and the truth about Jake is revealed, will Lane's heart follow orders or will all be lost like grains of sand swept away in a desert?

Beth Laycock’s books are influenced by her time living overseas as well as the gritty, urban landscape of the north of England where she grew up.

She has been reading romance since she was old enough to tell herself that line every book lover does—just one more chapter.

As a teenager she attempted to write her first novel, and many more since then that are still gathering dust on her bookshelf. It wasn’t until she discovered the M/M genre that her muse showed up and refused to quit telling her stories about beautiful men finding love together. She hasn’t stopped scribbling them down since. Beth’s muse usually shows up when she is in the shower, is allergic to cleaning, rarely lets Beth watch TV, and insists she drinks copious amounts of coffee so she can turn caffeine into words.

When not writing or reading Beth can be found procrastinating on social media or being dragged around the English countryside by her dog.

Beth loves to chat about books on social media or you can email her at beth@bethlaycock.com

Having been a gay member of the Air Force for 12 years, I really enjoy an MM military story. What I enjoy most about them is seeing gay characters doing what I could never do when I was in the military, which was long before DADT.

Through awesome writing, I really connected with Lane. I felt his pain and his desperate need to find to find his brother.

Since none of my overseas posting were in the middle east I had no frame of reference as to the Saudi Arabian landscape. Ms Laycock's brilliant writing made me feel as if I was right there in Jeddah, right along with Lane (my favorite character) and Tristan. It was like I was right there every step of the way with Lane.

However, I felt the story was unfinished. There were several loose ends. Perhaps that was Ms Laycock's plan, to get readers invested enough in the story to watch for a sequel or two.

All in all I give Guarding His Heart a 4 out of 5 stars and I do recommend it.

All hell breaks loose in the community, and accusations fly…all coinciding with Niall Hamarsson’s return.Niall and Mat have a history, and it’s not one Mat’s proud of. Angst, angst, and... oh yea, angst.

I think this is one of the author's best books, and that's quite a challenge considering how much I loved her Accidental Roots series. This book is one I will definitely be reading again.

Who doesn't love a murder mystery with more twists and turns than a bag of curly fries?

There were a couple of times I wanted to tell the main characters to either cut their bullshit or put on boxing gloves, get into the ring and have at it. In the end, though, the two broken men do finally come together (in more ways than one) to solve the mystery.

I love the fact that Niall and Mat don't jump into bed or a relationship in the first couple of chapters of the book like a lot of other MM romance novels I've read.

The supporting characters are great, including one adorable puppy-dog.

5 out of 5 stars and a definite must read!

Book review: Coast To Coast (Arizona Raptors #1) by RJ Scott and V.L. Locey

Length: 57,412 words

Cover Design: Meredith Russell

Blurb

When opposites attract, it’s not just the team that’s in for a shake-up.

When a stipulation in his father’s will throws Mark back into a family that disowned him, he has only two things on his mind; buying his way out of contractual obligations and running in the opposite direction as fast as he can. When neither option pans out, he finds he is now a one third owner of the struggling Arizona Raptors hockey team, and that is just about the worst thing he could have happened to him. Not only does he hate hockey, but the Raptors are a bottom-of-the-league team, rife with jealousies and anger in a locker room that only knows self-pity. How is he supposed to help turn things around when the only way to start fixing things is to form an alliance with the estranged siblings he’d run from fifteen years earlier?

Then there’s Rowen Carmichael, a stubborn, opinionated, irritating man with superiority issues and questionable taste in music. Butting heads with Rowen, who he’d never even wanted to hire in the first place, is one thing, but there is no way in hell that he will allow the growing attraction to the new coach become anything more. Until with everything on the line, he has to make decisions that will change his life forever.

After years of collegiate coaching, Rowen is given an offer that he simply can’t refuse, although perhaps he should. When he’s presented with the chance to take one of the worst teams in the league and mold them into a future cup contender, the challenge is just too alluring to pass up. He leaves his beloved Ontario behind and moves west to the arid city of Tucson where he is faced with a broken team, shoddy management, and players overflowing with resentment and bigotry.

Never in his twenty years of hockey has he ever seen such a raging dumpster fire of an organization. Yet there’s something about this team and this city that compels him to roll up his sleeves and start dismantling. He has his eye on a new associate coach that’s bound to makes waves, and several key players who should be sent packing. Now all he has to do is convince the new owners of the team that his choices are for the best. If only Mark Westman-Reid, one of three siblings who now own the Raptors, wasn’t so damned rock-headed, so damned snooty, and so damned appealing his job might be a bit easier.

Woohoo! A new series!!!!

RJ Scott and V.L. Locey, the authors that created the amazing Harrisburg Railers series are back!

Coast To Coast is everything you'd expect from these awesome writers.

There's angst. There's love. There's some initial hatred and plenty of hockey and sex.

I have to admit I'm not a hockey fan (rinks are too damn cold!!!) although I did attend a couple of games when I was in college. I'm an English Premier League fan through-and-through.

However, I've learned a lot about the game reading these novels and have a slight interest in seeing a game or two.

What I love most about the story (and there's a lot to love), is something I've never seen before. Inter-series character appearances, one of whom is Ryker Madsen, a favorite Harrisburg Railers player.

To me, the book went along a slightly slower pace than I expected, but this is a good thing.  It made it easier for me to meet and learn about the new characters, although there were a couple of times I found myself comparing them with their Harrisburg Railers counterparts. I was happy to discover that neither characters in the comparisons were lacking in any way. I'm sure this was one of the things topmost in the authors' minds, How to keep the characters in one series separate from the other series.

Not an easy job I'm sure, but they handled it brilliantly.

Coast To Coast earns five out of five stars and is a definite must read!

Marital Bliss Series

Book #1 - Surprise Groom - Amazon US | Amazon UK | Universal Link

Blurb

Can two men keep a childhood promise for marital bliss?

Wyatt is overwhelmed after his grandfather dies, leaving him to take over the cattle ranch. The Triple J is floundering, vandals are targeting him, and his first and only love is finally within reach--and still holding a grudge. Wyatt has wanted to marry Diego since they made a childhood pact, but Diego isn't back for their second chance.

When a funeral calls Diego back to Texas, he comes face-to-face with the cowboy who broke his heart. Resentment has burned inside him for years, but his anger wavers as he realizes just how much Wyatt is struggling to keep his head above water. The man he once loved is lonely and burdened, and Diego feels compelled to help him rediscover the strong, capable rancher he knows him to be.Hostility gives way to passion, then friendship as they fall into a rhythm of work and sex. Wyatt has renewed hope he might wrangle the man he wants to be his groom. But Diego has a life waiting for him one thousand miles away, and love may not be enough to prevent history from repeating itself.

Wrangling a Groom is Book 2 of the Marital Bliss series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Author Bio

DJ Jamison is the author of more than a dozen m/m romances, including the Ashe Sentinel series and the Hearts and Health series. She writes a variety of queer characters, from gay to bisexual to asexual, with a focus on telling love stories that are more about common ground than lust at first sight. DJ grew up in the Midwest in a working-class family, and those influences can be found in her writing through characters coping with real-life problems: money troubles, workplace drama, family conflicts and, of course, falling in love. DJ spent more than a decade in the newspaper industry before chasing her first dream to write fiction. She spent a lifetime reading before that, and continues to avidly devour her fellow authors' books each night. She lives in Kansas with her husband, two sons, two fish and, regrettably, one snake.

Okay, let's see a show of hands. Who DOESN'T love hot, sexy cowboys?

Wrangling A Groom is an enticing story centered around two guys who had made a child-pact to get married. As it often does, life intervened and drove Wyatt and Diego to different parts of the country and vastly different lives.

Both characters are written brilliantly, as is the story itself.

I really liked how Caleb and Julien from Surprise Groom (book 1 in the series) are brought into the story, and that you don't really have to know anything about these characters (or read Surprise Groom) to appreciate what they add to the story.

You don't have to read Surprise Groom to love Wrangling A Groom, but I recommend reading it first for a fuller reading experience.

5 out of 5 stars, with a very high recommendation.

Book review: Life According to Liam by V. L. Locey

Length: 40,000 words approx.

Cover Design: Meredith Russell

Blurb

There’s always that chance that your heart’s desire is one click away.

Someone needs to pinch web designer/humor blogger/Pittsburgh Ravens mega fan Mike Kneller. Hard. For years, Mike has been living his life for his younger sister Kelly and his four-year-old nephew Liam. He’d opened up his home to Kelly when she found herself pregnant at sixteen and facing having a baby alone. Sure, his days are filled with skinned knees, snotty noses, and the occasional mishap with stuffed superheroes, but he’s perfectly happy because he loves Liam as much as he loves his baby sister. Giving up a social life and going to bed alone is a small price to pay. Little does he know that someone on the Ravens is about to show Ravens goalie Bryn Mettler one of his vlog posts. Of course he’s not going to believe it when his phone rings and the world-famous netminder—and his goalie crush—is on the other end. I mean, life doesn’t work that way for ordinary, hardworking uncles like Mike. Does it?

Bryn Mettler is a superstar athlete and a major part of the Pittsburgh sports society. He seems to have it all. He’s well-dressed, handsome, wealthy, an elite goaltender, a famed philanthropist, and the holder of numerous medals and trophies. To date, there are two things that have avoided him: lifting that big shiny silver cup over his head and finding a man to settle down with. Now that he’s over thirty, Bryn is finding the gay club scene is wearing thin. His teammates’ wives have decided it’s their duty to the team—and to Bryn—to find him Mr. Right. He’s relatively sure the man who’ll capture his heart surely won’t be found on a humor blog. Funny how life likes to take the things that you’re most certain about and flip them—and you—on its ear. When Bryn meets Mike, he is instantly drawn to the warm, funny, sexy man who shares his hectic days with thousands of Pittsburgh natives. Now he just has to convince Mike he is who he says he is so he can get to know him better. Thankfully, Bryn isn’t a quitter. But does he have what it takes to leap into life with Mike, Kelly, and Liam?

Book review: The Lion and the Crow by Elle Keaton

The Lion and the Crow by [Easton, Eli]

Buy link:  Amazon

In medieval England, duty is everything, personal honor is more valued than life itself, and homosexuality is not tolerated by the church or society.

Sir Christian Brandon was raised in a household where he was hated for his unusual beauty and for his parentage. Being smaller than his six brutish half-brothers, he learned to survive by using his wits and his gift for strategy, earning him the nickname the Crow.

Sir William Corbett, a large and fierce warrior known as the Lion, has pushed his unnatural desires down all his life. He’s determined to live up to his own ideal of a gallant knight. When he takes up a quest to rescue his sister from her abusive lord of a husband, he’s forced to enlist the help of Sir Christian. It’s a partnership that will test every strand of his moral fiber, and, eventually, his understanding of the meaning of duty, honor, and love.

The main thing that brought this book to my attention was that it took place in Medieval England, my favorite period in history.

I love the historical accuracy. It is obvious Ms Keaton put in a lot of research into it.

Fair warning:  The Lion and The Crow is so amazingly written that I couldn't help but get emotionally involved with the characters. I loved their interactions.

There were a couple of times when I was on the edge of my seat thinking, How in the hell are they going to get out of this one? They did, though. In one instance their solution was quite ingenious.

The ending definitely pulled at my heartstrings. When I finished reading the book my only reaction was to slump back in my chair and take a deep breath. Wow. Just. Wow. I felt like it was the end of a long, exciting journey that ended abruptly.

I would give The Lion and the Crow 1,000 stars if I could, but I have to settle for 5.

If I could afford it, I'd make sure every eReader would have a copy on it.

Well done, Ms. Keaton. Extremely well done.
