I am in absolute complete awe after reading Broken. Powerful. Engrossing. All-encompassing. Real.

I can't help but wonder how many people have been in Theo's position. Ms. Haken portrays Theo as a gentle, sometimes sarcastic, kind, passionate and compassionate person with a dream. A dream he pursues with determination.

And then there's the rich, powerful, arrogant James, the complete opposite of Theo. When I read about James' dark secret, I'm reminded of myself as I've been through the same thing James has. I can't help but think that Ms. Haken copied my life story.

She tackles the subject of struggling with mental illness with the sensitivity, understanding and compassion that people in that position need, but far too often are denied. I applaud Ms. Haken's effort to bring this issue to light.

I feel that if everyone read this book, it would make significant strides in the acceptance of those struggling with mental illness, no matter what form it takes and all those whose lives are touched by it, friends, family, co-workers, anyone and everyone.

I know I seem to be focusing on the subject of James' illness, but it's an important part of the relationship between James and Theo.

It is my hope that anyone reading this book comes away with a better understanding of mental illnesses and how important it is to have the support of friends and family.  

If I could give Broken a thousand stars, I would. Since I can't, I'll have to give it 5 stars.

In book one of the Spencer Cohen series we met Spencer, a rent-a-boyfriend and his for real boyfriend Andrew.

Book two is an interesting tale in that Spencer is hired to do something completely different from what his clients, and no, rent-a-boyfriend most definitely does not mean rent boy, normally hire him to do.

It's a well-written story with great characters. I can easily identify with the character Yanni experiences in the story as I, and I'm sure many others, have gone through similar experiences.

As with book one, the story moves at a good pace, not too fast, not too slow and is easy to follow.

All-in-all it is a definite must read, and I’ll probably read it again.

On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 5 and definitely recommend it. I especially recommend it to anyone who has or is going through the same experiences as Yanni.
