Sam wrote her first fantasy epic with her best friend when she was ten. Like almost any epic fiction written by a ten year old, it was awful. She likes to think she’s improved since then, if only because she has better handwriting now.

If she’s not writing, she’s almost certainly either reading or lost down a wikipedia rabbit hole while pretending to research for a novel.

Wow! Just... wow!

What an incredible page-turner. It draws you in from the very first chapter and doesn't let you go until you've finished it.

I loved every single chapter.

The characters are intriguing and quite realistic. I normally shy away from this type of story (I can't tell you what that type is, for to do so would give away a major spoiler) but I'm super glad I read it.

The only drawback was that I had not read the previous books in the series (a situation I intend to rectify) I was able to glean enough about the characters to enjoy the story, even though I didn't know anything about some of the secondary characters, Oak in particular, nor anything about the setting other than (very, very minor spoiler, not crucial to the plot) the Rowan was harbor off the coast of Oregon.

I highly recommend A Hawk in the Rowan. However, read the previous novels in this order:

Book #1 - Blackbird In The Reeds

Book #2 - Wolf and the Holly

Book #3 - Fox and Birch

Given the awesomeness that is Hawk In The Rowan, I have no doubt the other novels are equally awesome.
