Cosmic Inception Release Tour

An interview with Alicia Nordwell

Single people often have more time to write. Are you single?
Nope, I’ve been with the same man for nearly 19 years now, married 16, with 2 kids 12 and nearly 10. Needless to say, they’re all very distracting!

What's your favorite room in your house? Do you plot or write there?
You know, I don’t really have one. By the end of the day, it’s usually whatever room no one else is in.

Where do you get your ideas?
I love perusing science websites for great ideas to bubble into fictional story—you’d be surprised what can prompt an idea. I like looking at Hubble pictures to capture the beauty of space. Of course, looking at stock models isn’t much of a chore when I’m looking for a new character.

Have you written a book you love that you have not been able to get published?
Tons! Not because they’ve been rejected, but just because I haven’t had the time or energy to get them ready to the point of submission. But that means I have a ton of free stories for my fans to read if they don’t mind the lack of polish the wonderful editors at Dreamspinner provide. My lead editor, Rose, is amazing at tweaking things to bring out the hidden gem under the editing mistakes.

Do you have a favorite book in the Saving Caeorleia series?
Honestly, each time I write a book in this series it tends to be my favorite.

How did you come up with this story? Did the characters or the plot come to you first?
Definitely characters since Nick and Fieo appear in both The Experiment and Adverse Effects before they got their own story in Cosmic Inception. The series began with inspiration from a prompt on GayAuthors.org. The first ‘chapter’ was so well received that this whole universe expanded and has led to Adverse Effects and Cosmic Inception.

What is your favorite part of Cosmic Inception?
Well, without any spoilers, it’s definitely Afiowa Tau. There is just so much to see and explore there. I could only show so much, but in my head... WOW. To catch just a glimpse, check out my tour post from yesterday titled: Envisioning Alien Worlds.

What are your future projects?
I’m working on the next novel in this series which will feature... Chip! I’m pretty sure most readers figured that out, but as you remember, he’s not exactly functioning so getting around that is taking some creative writing. I hope to begin posting it soon. My next published work is a 48k contemporary novella, On Fire, coming out with Dreamspinner’s States of Love series. Set in Washington state, I was able to really draw on the many great aspects where I’ve lived 32 of my 35 years.

Their journey will span the universe and back, but there’s no guarantee they’ll make it together.

Though Nick and Fieo are drawn to each other, their relationship has never been easy. Their differences go beyond their races, but they’ve managed to work together to prevent the spread of corruption, growing closer along the way. Nick still battles the effects of years of loneliness, fear, and pain but surprises everyone when he refuses to stay behind when Fieo is sent on a vital mission to find the Collectors. Fieo objects, but there’s no stopping Nick when he sets his mind to something. Over the course of their mission, it becomes clear Nick is more than anyone ever imagined, but the mystery of his past threatens to derail his future.

The search for the truth will take Fieo and Nick far from Caeorleia, to worlds both familiar and completely alien, and put stress on their already tenuous relationship. It’s a journey that will either tear them apart or finally bring them together.

Where to Find More from Alicia Nordwell
Alicia Nordwell is one of those not so rare creatures, a reader turned writer. Striving to find something interesting to read one day, she decided to write what she wanted instead. Then the voices started ... Yep, not only does she talk about herself in the third person for bios, she has voices in her head constantly clamoring to get out.
Fortunately for readers, with the encouragement of her family and friends, she decided for her own sanity to keep writing. Now you can find her stories both free and e-published!She can be found quite often at her blog, where she has a lot of free fiction for readers to enjoy or working hard, or maybe hardly working, as an admin on GayAuthors.org under her online nickname, Cia.
Oh yeah, she's a wife, mom of two, and lives in the dreary, yet ideal for her redhead complexion, Pacific Northwest. Except for when she disappears into one of the many worlds in her head, of course!
