Blurb

Under the Christmas lights strung outside a snowy Minnesota cabin, Ryker and Jacob face a future where nothing will be the same again.

Fortunate timing means that Ryker and Jacob can spend a few days together over Christmas in a cabin on the family farm. What’s better is that Scott and Ben are coming as well, with Hayne and Ethan in tow. Ryker can’t imagine a better way to spend time with the man he loves, and the friends he misses, and somehow he knows that this Christmas will be the best one ever. Hockey on a frozen pond, kisses under Christmas lights, and sharing time with Jacob are the best gifts he could ever receive.

Long distance relationships are brutal, Jacob can attest to that fact. So, when Ryker gets a few days off over the Raptors’ Christmas break, the hard-working Minnesota farmer is beyond thrilled. When they find out that their buddies from Owatonna U. are making the trip as well, the holidays are looking to be just about perfect. Jacob has a question for Ryker burning in his heart, and he isn’t asking for much—just a few fun-filled days with old friends and a yes from the man of his dreams.

Jesse’s only priority in life is protecting the people he loves, so he’s determined to see Rowan Harbor’s wards rebuilt. There’s just one problem: they’re missing an ingredient that can’t be ordered online.

Jesse volunteers to search for the missing component in the realm of the fae, but his boyfriend, Sean, isn’t letting him go alone. The town has an enemy among the fae, so they’ll need to keep a low profile. Along their way, they find unexpected allies, surprising enemies, and a whole host of problems.

The journey is a test of their endurance, but also of their relationship and their faith in each other. Can they find what they need and get back home in one piece in time for the summer solstice?

Sam wrote her first fantasy epic with her best friend when she was ten. Like almost any epic fiction written by a ten year old, it was awful. She likes to think she’s improved since then, if only because she has better handwriting now.

If she’s not writing, she’s almost certainly either reading or lost down a Wikipedia rabbit hole while pretending to research for a novel.

Book review: No Place Like Home by Annabelle Jacobs

Length: 48,000 words approx.

Cover Design: Natasha Snow

Blurb

Will Oliver get the gift he’s hoping for this Christmas?

Oliver Walker’s Christmas is shaping up to be a quiet one. That is until hunky neighbour Ed Middleton moves in next door.
Attraction is instant, but Ed is only there temporarily and neither wants to start something with an expiration date.

As the festive season approaches, holiday cheer wraps around them, and giving in to temptation is inevitable. But Ed is still set on moving in the new year—a fresh start, miles away from those he’s closest to.

If Oliver doesn’t want to lose his heart, he’ll have to show Ed that home is wherever he wants it to be, and love is possible no matter what.

Annabelle Jacobs lives in the South West of England with three rowdy children, and two cats. An avid reader of fantasy herself for many years, Annabelle now spends her days writing her own stories. They're usually either fantasy or paranormal fiction, because she loves building worlds filled with magical creatures, and creating stories full of action and adventure. Her characters may have a tough time of it—fighting enemies and adversity—but they always find love in the end.

What a sweet story.

Having read a multitude of MM romance novels, I knew how it was going to end. However, for me it's not about knowing how it ends. That's not as important to me as the journey the characters undertake to get there.

This story is about following your heart regardless of what your brain is telling you to do.

Through Annabelle Jacobs' brilliant writing we see this slowly happening with Ed, subtly prompted by Oliver, no-so-subtly by Ed's sisters Ruth and Sarah.

How many times have we found ourselves in the same situation.

Blaise Pascal, a French mathematician, physicist, inventor and writer once said, "The heart has it's reasons which reason knows nothing of. We know the truth not only by reason, but by the heart."

This can easily be said of Ed, conflicted as he was regarding whether to stay in the bungalow his aunt left to him and his sisters, or to follow his original play to move to a new city.

It is through these brilliantly-written, multi-faceted characters we vicariously learn the truth of Pascal's saying and apply it to our own lives. Follow your heart. Ed did and found more happiness with Oliver and he ever imagined.

5 out of 5 stars, a strong recommendation and a hope we see more of Ed, Oliver and their families.

Book review: A Boyfriend For Christmas by Jay Northcote

Cover Design: Garrett Leigh @ Black Jazz Design

Blurb

Archie's posh parents want him to meet a nice girl--how can he tell them he's fallen for a bad boy instead?

Closeted, innocent and lonely, Archie Arandale longs for someone special in his life. A Christmas party organised by his wealth management company is the last place he expects to meet the man of his dreams.

With his leather jacket, tattoos, and piercings, Cal Turner turns heads the moment he walks through the door. He definitely isn't looking for a boyfriend, but Archie's hesitant charm captures his attention, and sneaking off during the party to have a little fun can only make a dull evening more interesting.

After their reckless and thrilling encounter, Archie is keen for more experience and Cal is happy to oblige. The need for secrecy means this can only be a casual fling, yet as they spend time together in the run up to Christmas, their feelings become more intense than either of them had bargained for. How can Archie find the courage to tell his family about Cal, when Cal's the exact opposite of the 'nice girl' they've been hoping for?

Contains: A closeted virgin, a tattooed biker, class differences, a dramatic coming out, a very inappropriate Christmas gift, and a happy ending (of course).

Ah, the life of the rich and famous. People waiting on you hand and foot. People willing to do whatever you want, in or out of bed. Busy, busy, busy. Tons of friends to keep you from getting lonely. A life everybody want to live right?

Wrong. At least that's how Archie Arandale feels.

Archie is a character who leads the life many of us would envy. We only see the upside, however. Through Archie, we are shown there is a downside to this lifestyle. There is loneliness. There is the desire to be treated for who you are, not your money, fame, glamour, whatever.

Through Cal we see that a person can be rich and not bow down to societal stereotypes. In fact, it's hard so see Cal as a millionaire. He is who he chooses to be, and who he chooses to be is a person just like everyone else.

Two men who are rich. To men who are polar opposites. Well, opposites attract, right.

Archie and Cal are brilliantly written characters, and the supporting characters are great. The story is an easy read, one in which you can easily immerse yourself, maybe a few chapters at a time or the entire story in one sitting.

I highly recommend this 5-star book.

Leo Byrne is a cop, Jason Banks is an ex-con. Even after one stolen kiss, something has to give before Leo can convince Jason that falling in love is even an option.

Adopted at a young age, Leo is part of the sprawling Byrnes family. With his dog Cap, three siblings and a whole mess of nieces and nephews, he is never lonely, and his life is full. Love is the last item on his to-do list, but seeing his best friends Sean and Eric happy and making new families makes him want things he doesn’t think is possible. Kissing Jason at an event to honor his bravery was one thing, but anything other than that is off limits. Until Jason has no one left to turn to, and it’s Leo who helps him at his lowest. Taking Jason and his daughter into his home is one thing, but falling for the ex-con is something else altogether.

Jason made a deal to keep his daughter safe and spent years behind bars as a result. Volunteering as a convict firefighter was as much about helping the community as saving his sanity, but now that he’s out, he doesn’t even have that. He’s lost his future, his self-respect, and has no friends or a place to call home. Worst of all, even after rescuing his daughter he still can’t keep her safe from the man who wants to use her as a bargaining chip for money. Meeting Leo might give Jason a way to keep Daisy safe, but falling for the stubborn cop means the truth has to be revealed, and he could lose everything all over again.

It's RJ Scott. How can you go wrong?

This third installment of the Single Dads series takes place shortly after the events of Today (Single Dads #2).

The character Jason, who saved the life of Fighter (and former housemate) Eric from dying in a fire, is brilliantly written as a strong yet obstinate man, fiercely dedicated to his daughter and equally as dedicated to the thought that as an ex-con, he had no future with Leo, the cop from the previous two novels.

Jason's daughter Daisy is simply adorable.

Leo, however, is a totally different story. He is also a brilliantly written character totally dedicated to the protection of Jason and Daisy, to the exclusion of everything else.

The story line could have been taken straight from the news headlines, it was that realistic. There were a couple of places where it dragged a little, but other than that it flowed smoothly.

There were a couple of references about events that happened in the previous books that should have been explained a little better, which would have strengthened the story.

All-in-all it's a must read story that belongs on everyone's eBook reader and bookshelf.

I give Promise 4.5 out of 5 stars.
