Chapter 26 of my Wednesday briefs story, Love Across Time is now up. You can read it by clicking here.

If you have just come across my blog and would like to read the entire story, you can click here to get to the Wednesday briefs page.

Here is a sneak peek at what you'll find in chapter 26:

Before Ryan reached Duncan, he pulled out a stunner and aimed it at Ryan. “I don’t want to use this, but I will if you force me to.” Ryan stopped short of Duncan. Duncan continued, “Have you lost your mind? You’ve broken so many temporal laws I don’t even know where to start to figure out how to defend you once this gets to the Tribunal. What the fuck is going on in your head?”

“The same thing that’s going through your head, trying to figure out what’s happening,” Ryan retorted angrily.

“You used your access code to override the security lockouts and make an unauthorized trip back in time.” Duncan held up his hand to stop the rant that he knew Ryan was about to unleash. “I understand why you did it. I know you’re in love with Ethan, but it can’t work. If you go back in time to be with him, no matter how careful you are, the risk of contaminating the timeline is too great. If Ethan comes forward to this time, 800 years into the future I might add, he will be at a terrible disadvantage. What would he do for work? Where would he live?”

Ryan’s frustration and anger slowly dissipated once he realized that Duncan was just as concerned for Ethan as he was for the timeline. “I’ve been thinking about that. He would, of course, live with me. As far as what he would do for work, can you think of anyone better to be a historian?”

Duncan was quiet as he contemplated this. “No, actually I can’t. He would definitely be an asset, but can he learn 800 years of history?”

“Other than the salient points, does he really need to?”

“I guess not. We, however, still need to figure out what triggered the paradox alarm. In light of this, I can’t take the chance of you making any more unauthorized trips to the past. Scott, lock out Ryan’s access codes to the central computer.” Scott shot Duncan a do-you-really-want-to-do-that look, but complied anyway.

Ryan shot Duncan a bitter look. “I guess my usefulness here has ended,” he mumbled as he walked out the door, ignoring Duncan’s order to come back.

Wednesday Brief - Love Across Time chapter 25

Chapter 25 of my Wednesday briefs story, Love Across Time is now up. You can read it by clicking here.

If you have just come across my blog and would like to read the entire story, you can click here to get to the Wednesday briefs page.

Here is a sneak peek at what you'll find in chapter 25:

“…restoration."

"There what?" Duncan demanded, not quite believing his ears.

"Yeah. 20% restoration. There's a definite connection between Ryan and Ethan. Anne, Adrienne and I are trying to figure out what that is, but so far we haven't nailed it down. My theory is that they are supposed to be together as a couple, but whether it's in the present or the past, I can't say. We're gonna dig until we get some answers." Liam was emphatic about finding the answers they so desperately needed.

"Did you forget that when Ryan brought Ethan and his brother to our time it set off the paradox alarm?"

"No, I hadn't, but if you look at the one newspaper clipping, it said that Ethan, his brother and his cousin all disappeared without a trace. Maybe the reason why the alarm went off is because all three of them weren't here, just Ethan and his brother."

"Hmm. A possibility. Okay. I'm going to call in Scott to cover the control room. As of now, you are hereby relieved of all duties so you can concentrate on solving this conundrum."

Please jump over to his page and welcome him, then go out and get his new book.

You can find his page here.

Here's a little excerpt from Home Grown:

Ethan’s stomach fluttered, his anticipation building as he scanned the early morning farmer’s market crowd. Stop it. Peter will show up when he shows up. Ethan snapped his attention back to the present when the small gray-haired woman who ran the booth beside him tucked herself under his arm and hugged him tight.

“Morning, good-looking.”

“Morning, Maggie. How are things going?” Ethan kissed the top of her head and returned her embrace.

“Not bad, not bad. I’ve put out all the soaps. I hope everyone feels dirty today and stocks up.”

Ethan chuckled at the image of mud people gathering around Maggie’s stall. “Well, my customers can be clean. But I think business today will be good. The late season tomatoes are finally ripe, and I’ve had lots of people asking about them.”

 “Including Peter?”

Heat crept up Ethan’s cheeks. “Peter? I don’t know. Probably. You know he has a thing for my tomatoes.”
“Uh-huh, yeah. I might have been born at night, but it wasn’t last night. Admit it to Auntie Maggie, you have the hots for the boy, and I think he has a thing for more than your tomatoes.”

Ethan brushed off her speculation with a wave of his hand. “Maggie, you’re crazy. That man’s some kinda high-powered muckety-muck downtown. He’d never know I lived in Wisconsin if I didn’t have the best tomatoes in the market.”

Ethan studied the forming crowd, their sounds echoing through the building. “It looks like it’s getting busy, I’d better check to make sure I got everything from the truck.”

He embraced her again and trotted out the side door to his pickup. I’m not ready to talk to anyone about my feelings about Peter.

Here's a little preview of what you'll find:

“Kenson, on your feet. Your bail has been posted unfortunately. You’re free to go.” The guard unlocked former officer Kenson’s cell.

“By who?”

“Jenkins.”

The guard was fuming as he walked the former PPD officer to the front desk. “Here’s your stuff, ass-wipe.”

“Who are you calling ass-wipe, faggot.”

“You, ass-wipe.”

“I should…” Kenson balled up his fist and pulled his arm back.

“Go ahead. Take a swing. I’d love to lock your sorry ass back up.”

Kenson rethought his current course of action and instead of swinging, dropped his arm, grabbed the envelope that contained his personal effects and walked out. “Thanks for posting my bail Captain.”

“I’m no longer a captain.” Jenkins responded. “Fucking faggot Peters went crying to that faggot-loving Commissioner and got me fired.”

“Same here, only in my case, the little Mary went to that sorry excuse of a Deputy Mayor.”

“I know; which is why I posted your bail. I need your help with a little payback. Let’s go somewhere where we can talk in private. I have an idea that requires your particular expertise.”

“You got it” Kenson agreed emphatically. “Whatever it takes to teach that sorry-assed faggot a lesson he’ll never forget I’ll do.”

“Here’s my idea…”

Wednesday brief - Love Across Time chapter 24

Chapter 24 of my Wednesday briefs story, Love Across Time is now up. You can read it by clicking here.

If you have just come across my blog and would like to read the entire story, you can click here to get to the Wednesday briefs page.

Here is a sneak peek at what you'll find in chapter 24:

Looking up from his computer Duncan motioned Anne to take a seat. "What have you found?"

She handed him a picture. "This is a picture of the woodworking shop taken by Ryan with his 3D imager." The picture showed a well cared-for building surrounded by a manicured lawn. She hands him another picture along with a couple of newspaper articles. "I found this picture in the archives, taken around the same time as Ryan's. Duncan stared at the picture, not believing his eyes. This picture of the woodworking shop showed a smiling Ethan and Ryan with their arms around each other. The sign above the door read 'Evans-Edwards Woodworking.' The newspaper articles talked about Ethan Evans taking on a partner, both in his personal life and in his business. This person was a new person in town named Ryan Edwards.

At a loss for words, Duncan could only respond with "Okay" as he was handed yet another picture and newspaper article. This time, the picture showed the shop boarded up, grass and weeds overgrown, sign reading Evans Woodworking. The newspaper article this time cited the disappearance of Ethan, Chris and Alicia. No explanation was given as to the disappearance. The three Evans' were never found.

"This was found in a different archive, also from the same time frame. The question is; which of these archive pictures shows the correct history?"
